APG Elumalai Interview: No journey in Tamil cinema is without its challenges
Director APG Elumalai talks about his upcoming film Myyal, his journey in the film industry, his belief in equality, and more
Director APG Elumalai, who awaits the release of his sophomore venture, Myyal, mentions seeking inspiration from ancient Tamil literature for the title. "Myyal basically means love at first sight," says Elumalai, who previously helmed the 2019 mystery thriller Aghavan. After being an assistant director for the 2006 K Balachander film Poi, Elumalai went on to work as an associate for G Marimuthu's Kannum Kannum (2006). After that, Elumalai worked with director Prabu Solomon on Mynaa (2010), Kumki (2012), and Kaadan (2021). "No journey in Tamil cinema is without its challenges, but the love for filmmaking supersedes everything."
